AN OVERVIEW OF THE MINISTRY

Located in Block 4, First Floor Centenay City, Abakaliki. The Ebonyi state ministry of justice came into existence on the creation of Ebonyi state in 1996. Since its the ministry has been discharging its responsibilities very creditably. It has provided and served as a legal shield to the state government, its agencies, parastatals and extra-ministerial departments.

Within the nineteen years of its existence, the Ebonyi State Ministry of Justice has had six Attorneys-General/Commissioners for Justice including the present Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice. more...


VISION

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE ARE:  

  1. To serve as a veritable and indispensable link between the Executive and the Legislature.
  2. To vet all contract agreements entered into by the government to ensure that the respective Rights and obligations of government and the contractor are clearly defined and protected.
  3. To provide remedial services for human rights violation in its human rights desk in the Ministry.
  4. To take part in jail delivery exercise where deserved prison inmates are freed by the Chief Judge of the State in the spirit of prison decongestion.
  5. To handle cases (Civil and Criminal).
  6. To provide succour to families torn apart by conflicts over sharing the Estate of their benefactor who dies without intestate through the office of the Administrator-General/Public Trustees.
  7. To enhance premium welfare services to members of staff of the Ministry.
  8. To help to secure landed properties of the State within and outside.
  9. To grant fiats to deserving lawyers.
  10. To organize training and conferment of Justice of Peace (JP) to deserving persons routinely.
  11. To generate revenue to the State Government.
