AN OVERVIEW OF THE MINISTRY

The present Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing was merged with the Housing Department of the former Ministry of Housing and Environment which gave it the present nomenclature as the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Housing.

Previously, the Ministry had the following departments and parastatals: Administration / Supply Department, Lands Department, Building, Quantity Surveying and Engineering Services, Architectural Services Department, Finance Department, Office of the Surveyor General, Town Planning Department and Housing Development Corporation (Parastatal)

A recent restructuring of the Ministry gave it the the structure : Administration Department, Lands Department, Finance Department, Town Planning, Building and Engineering Department, Architectural Services Department, Quantity Surveying Department, Office of the Surveyor General and Housing Development Corporation (Parastatal)

Planning Research and Statistic (PRS), Public Relation Office and Internal Audit are independent Units in the Ministry.


VISION
  • To advise government on all physical planning matters within the state;
  • To ensure effective and efficient administration and Management of Land Resources in the State in the with the provision of the National Tenure Laws;
  • To promote easy access to land by both private and public users and developers;
  • To provide a frame work for optimum land utilization / development in the state;

PROGRAMMES OF THE MINISTRY
  • General land administration and management which include formulation, interpretation, documentation etc.
  • Valuation of rights, crops enumeration, assessment of compensation, analysis of formulation and undertaking of marked surveys and research on land values;
  • Building and Engineering services which include preparation of valuation certificates, supervision and overseeing construction of all public building preparation of structural engineering design of steel
