The Commissioner
Dr.Onyebuchi Chima, Commissioner for Education, Ebonyi State Nigeria has traded the length and breath of academic tunnel and has carved a niche for himself in the hall of education.
He obtained a Higher National Diploma in Communication from Institute of Management and Technology Enugu State, Nigeria and proceeded to Enugu State University of Science and Technology in Nigeria where he studied and obtained a degree in Law. Thereafter, he headed to Nigeria Law School Abuja for his law professional training and was consequenly enrolled as barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1999.
His career has had an interdisciplinary focus, beginning with seven years teaching experience in secondary schools; two years public service with the Government of Ebonyi State, Nigeria and several years of work experience for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the UK and Nigeria.
While at Northumbria University Newcastle studying for MA in International Politics/Global Governance, Onyebuchi received the best student award and was offered a teaching position as an Assistant Lecturer.
He was also awarded a full funding scholarship for his doctoral research in International Political Economy. With a focus on the subprime financial market and the global financial crisis.
Onyebuchi’s doctoral research enabled him to actively participate in a number of industries policy and academic conferences/workshops in the United Kingdom and US.
His completed Masters and Doctoral research works received commendations and are part of the strong referenced materials in Northumbria University research repository.
Dr. Chima joined Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo (FUNAI), now Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) in August 2012.
Until his appointment as Commissioner for Education by Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi, Dr Onyebuchi Chima has been a Senior Lecturer in Political Science and Acting Director of the Centre for Human Resources Development (CHRD), Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike.
