ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MINISTRY

Following the ministerial directives of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, the Ministry of Works is vested with the responsibility of advancing infrastructural development across the State. The Ministry plays a pivotal role in the planning, execution, and supervision of construction projects, ensuring that public infrastructure aligns with the government's vision for sustainable growth.

Its core mandates include:

  1. Designing, constructing, maintaining, and improving urban and rural road networks to enhance connectivity and economic development.
  2. Overseeing the construction of State-owned public facilities and ensuring their continuous maintenance for optimal functionality.
  3. Managing and supervising expenditure on construction projects, ensuring prudent allocation of resources in line with the State's pressing infrastructural needs.
  4. Conducting feasibility studies, drafting project specifications, and setting conditions for State project plans.
  5. Monitoring and evaluating public facility projects to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  6. Planning and designing project terms and specifications, overseeing tendering processes, selecting contractors and consultancy firms, and supervising project execution. This includes ensuring the proper disbursement of funds in accordance with the State budget.

In pursuit of excellence, the Ministry is committed to fostering an efficient, sustainable, and technologically driven construction industry. It seeks to implement policies that guarantee economic, safe, and environmentally friendly construction standards across Government buildings, roads, and mechanical and electrical works—ultimately serving the needs of the people of Ebonyi State.
