Ministry of Solid Mineral producing communities was created by the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State on 1st July, 2015. The Office is presently located behind multipurpose hall Cabinet Office, Abakaliki. The Ministry has about 12 Staff including professionals in the Mining Industry.

Hon. Chief Donatus Njoku is the Political Head of the Ministry. A Politician, he is married with children. He was a onetime Local Government Chairman, Ebonyi South Coordinator, Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme SureP. Currently Chief Njoku is the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Solid Mineral Producing Communities.

The Ministry has three (3) functional departments they are Mineral Department, Accounts & Finance and Administration & Supplies Department.


The vision of the ministry is to develop Ebonyi, improve on its IGR through mineral deposit and provision of conducive environment to investors and the host communities.


The mission is to utilize the abundant mineral deposits in the state to enhance the growth of local industries. Also generate employments, increase the revenue base of the state as well as to improve the socio-economic wellbeing of the state.

In line with the vision of his Excellency Engr. David Nweze Umahi to transform Ebonyi through mineral deposits in the state.
