Ebonyi State Government Approved Twenty Nine Million Naira Relief Material To Assist Victim Of Herdsmen Attack In Benue And Taraba State.
While granting the approval, Governor David Umahi condemned the unfortunate killing in Benue as well as Taraba State. He commended the Federal Government for deployment of security personnel to prevent further loss of lives and destruction of property. He further called on security agencies to beef up security to enable them apprehend the culprit to serve as a deterrent to others. The governor also expressed sympathy to the people of River State over the recent massacre of their citizens by cult groups and encourage the Federal Government not to relent in restraining the tides of insecurity in the country.
The State Executive council has earlier organized a prayer section to herald activities for the New Year. Governor Umahi in his speech identified mission, vision and passion as the key spirit that drives accomplishment of any task. He then, called on the Executive council members to make those keywords their guiding principle in 2018 so as to realize the target of transforming the state. He further encouraged the council members to be prepared to contribute their ideas meaningfully into the Divine mandate projects. The Governor who prophetically declared 2018 as a year of bountiful favour to Ebonyians, assured that all projects initiated by his administration will be completed before August this year.
The Secretary to the State Government Professor Bernard Odo had earlier in his presentation praised highly the Governor for demonstrating transparency and accountability in running the affairs of the state. Professor Odo explained that the 29m naira approved for the procurement of relief materials became necessary to extend helping hands to those displaced by the unfortunate attack.
