Professor John Ubochi Eke who was born in Abarigwe Umuogude Osha Mbgo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area
of Ebonyi State, attended Abarigwe Primary School the attended the five years Teachers Training at St. Joseph's
College, Igbeagu, Abakaliki. In September 1984, he started studying Mathematics/Education in the University of
Nigeria, Nsukka. He completed his Masters in the same course 1990 then push further and started his Doctorate
degree in Mathematics.
In 1996, Dr. Eke was appointed the first Executive Chairman, Ebonyi State Primary Education Board.
A co-founder of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria at the national level in 1998, he is now
the Chancellor of the Institute of Empowerment and Strategy in collaboration with United Nations.
The vision of the Ministry is the achievement of an accelerated pace of industrial development down the
grass root and the pursuit of sound commercial objectives that will transform the state into one of the
best trade zones and investors destination in Nigeria.
To engender sustainable economic transformation of Ebonyi State, where industrial and commercial sectors will
be the prime movers of the economy, through guaranteed and intensified revenue generation.
In line with the vision of His Excellency Engr. Dave Umahi to make Ebonyi a worthy place for living, the Ministry of
Commerce and Industry has as one of her major functions as the generation of revenues to the state government

- Haulage fees from quarry Industries in the state.
- Fees from registration of Cooperative Societies.
- Audit and supervision fees.
